Radial Symmetry Name Designs
The first project for the 8th graders was a radial symmetry name design. The students folded their paper in a way that they could write their name with pencil, turn the paper and rub the bottom of a marker over the paper to transfer their name. This process created a symmetrical design that looks very similar to a kaleidoscope. This was a fun way to learn the students' names.

Ink Creatures
My new 7th grade students' first project was "Ink Creatures." I dropped ink on their paper and they blew the ink with a straw to create interesting lines and patterns. They then had to analyze their ink blot and create an image out of it using sharpies.
Ceiling Tiles
I finally gave in and let the students paint ceiling tiles. (on paper) This was our final project together. I'm going to miss my wonderful students, but I am looking forward to new talented artists.
